NSCDC ORGANISES FITNESS WALK FOR LIFE, ROUTE MARCH TO MARK THIS YEAR'S ICDO
As part of activities to commemorate this year's International Civil Defence Organization Day (ICDO), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) organized a Fitness Walk for Life and Route March at its National Headquarters for its personnel compromising officers and men.
The event which was led by the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR in company of all his Deputy Commandants General and Assistant Commandants General as well as very Senior officers, Officers and men began at the National Headquarters Parade Ground to Kuje and Air Port Road Bridges, before terminating at the starting point.
Addressing participants after the road walk, the CG emphasized on the importance of exercise which he explained is to enhance the physical and mental fitness of the personnel to perform maximally.
He maintained that as an agency whose statutory duties permit it to bear arms, there is absolute need to explore all avenues towards enhancing the ability of its manpower.
Further, he enjoined officers to be visionary and focused in the discharge of their duties in order to make the country safer.
According to him, the annual ICDO celebration marked globally on 1st March every year, will be celebrated in Nigeria on 3rd March at the NSCDC National Headquarters' Parade Ground because March 1st falls on a Saturday.
Apart from the series of activities lined up for the ICDO celebration which comprise a Medical Outreach, Maiden Inter-House Sports Competition by CDOWA Group of Schools, Football Match between NSCDC and Nigerian Correctional Service, he said the grand finale will provide an opportunity for the display of simulations on the different mandates of the Corps.
