TRAGIC INCIDENT: VEHICLE TUMBLES IN A LONE FATAL ACCIDENT
On the 24th of February ,2025, a tragic fatal accident occurred at Ido Awele along Lisa at about 11:45hrs.
A MAN Diesel Truck with registration number LSR 977 XW, driven by one Dapo Muyideen Ajala ‘m’, whose address remains unknown, was involved in the crash
The driver was transporting a full load of sharp sand from Lisa to Itoki with three loaders onboard:
1. Iliasu Adamu ‘m’, 35 years
2. Iliasu Balla ‘m’, 32 years
3. Sulaimon Mustapha ‘m’, 28 years
All three loaders who work at Itoki Tipper Garage are residents of the same address.
Circumstances of the Accident
While descending a hill at Odo Awela, the driver lost control of the truck, causing it to tumble and fall on the loaders.
The victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Faith Hospital, Ijoko, for emergency treatment. Tragically, Sulaimon Mustapha was later confirmed dead, and his remains were released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. The other two victims are still receiving medical care.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the driver, who is currently at large. The traffic police have made significant effort in clearing the wreckages by towing the accidented vehicle for inspection by the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO).
Preliminary investigation by Motor Traffic Division (Motopol) has commenced, and more details will be made available to members of the public.
The Ogun State Police Command urges all motorists to exercise caution, especially on hilly terrain, and ensure their vehicles are in good working condition to prevent such unfortunate incidents.
