OGUN POLICE COMMAND REFUTES FALSE PUBLICATION AGAINST DPO IBAFO
…More Ibafo Residents Testify to His Dedication to Duty
The Ogun State Police Command has noted an online publication dated February 15, 2025, alleging certain illegal activities at the Ibafo Divisional Police Headquarters. The report falsely claims that the station has become a “bustling marketplace” for unlawful activities.
It has become a disturbing trend for a few individuals who resist positive reforms to fabricate allegations against diligent police officers committed to upholding the rule of law, protecting fundamental human rights, and preventing crime. Additionally, some untrained writers, without verifying facts from the police, continue to propagate misleading narratives aimed at tarnishing the reputation of hardworking officers.
Ibafo was once known for a high crime rate and violent criminal activities. However, under the leadership of the current DPO—renowned for his dedication to intelligence-led policing, regular patrols, synergy with security agencies, and proactive crime prevention strategies—the area has witnessed significant improvement in security.
Experience has shown that some criminal elements attempt to discredit law enforcement by instigating false reports. However, the relative peace and security currently enjoyed in Ibafo stand as evidence of the effectiveness and professionalism of the police officers in the division. No credible complaints or proven cases of misconduct have been recorded against the DPO as alleged in the report. Instead, residents of Ibafo have openly commended his efforts in ensuring safety and order in the community.
The Ogun State Police Command encourages public engagement and welcomes constructive feedback. However, it urges all well-meaning individuals to support crime prevention initiatives rather than spread unfounded allegations that undermine security efforts.
For accurate information, the public is advised to verify facts through the official social media handle of the Command, on X- @OgunPoliceNG, Instagram, @Ogunpolice_ng, and Facebook @OgunPoliceCommand, and public relations department 09159578888 channels before accepting or sharing misleading reports.
