NSCDC COMMANDANT GENERAL INTELLIGENCE SQUAD UNCOVERS NEWLY ILLEGAL CRUDE OIL REFINING LOCATIONS AT OBIAKPU/OBUZOR COMMUNITIES OF ABIA STATE

At about 1005hrs of 8th of July, 2024, Intensifing the fight against crude oil 

theft and illegal bunkering in the South East/Niger Delta Region of Nigeria 

The NSCDC Commandant General Intelligence Squad (CG's SIS) acting on credible Intelligence, tiff of, that some unscrupulous elements are engaging in the illegal siphoning and refining of crude oil into adulterated petroleum products at Obiakpu/Obuzor communities forest in Ukwa West Local  Government Area of Abia State

This unscrupulous elements who were earlier dislodged by the CG's SIS squad, had  regroup and re-assemble their illegal refining materials inside the artisanal oil refinery site located inside the Obiakpu/Obuzor communities forest of Abia State.

Acting on this Intelligence, the head CG's SIS led by DCC Dandaura S. Appollos swung into action when he was on a working visit to the field operatives of the squad, the Squad uncovered that economic saboteurs were reconstructing newly acquired metal drums that are fabricated into cooking ovens of different capacities and other large reservoir tanks used for storage of stolen crude oil and surface metallic open tanks which serves as reservoir for the finished illegal refined petroleum products such as AGO, DPK etc.

During the operation, surface tampauline reservoirs were also discovered, newly acquired galvanized metal pipes were seen being laid and connected to the oil trunk lines . Industrial hoses were also seen being laid as well.

Exhibits recovered and destroyed inside the illegal refining sites are

1. Over 50 metallic drums ovens

2. Over 600 galvanized metal pipes

3. Over 30 metallic open reservoirs

4. Different sizes of industrial hoses

Though no arrest was made, all the recovery exhibits mentioned above were destroyed.
