UNMASKING THE GIANT STRIDES OF THE NSCDC COMMANDANT GENERAL AHMED ABUBAKAR AUDI

The Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, ofr, since assumption of office on the 3rd of march, 2021. Audi has embarked on various structural and institutional reforms in the paramilitary agency, making its operations more effective and highly efficient, Dr. Ahmed has not only shaped the NSCDC, but has turned it into a world class, modern and viable security organization that has become a reference point.

National Crimewatch Magazine has been monitoring the performance of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the leadership of its Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Audi PhD, mni, ofr, in tackling oil theft and its effects on the nation’s economy.

Our findings show that the corps had become more responsible and efficient in the discharge of its mandates following Audi’s dispositions and qualities.

We have also carried out series of investigations on the CG and his activities in office as the Commandant-General of NSCDC.

As a responsible organisation that deals with facts and not rumours or hearsay, we can authoritatively tell you for the fact that CG Audi needs to be commended for his hardwork, commitment and bringing sanity to the corps.

“We are proud that with men like Audi, the nation is on the path of getting it right in the area of security.

There is the growing need that people like Audi should be given more opportunities to function in public offices, if we must get it right in the fight against insecurity.

Mr. Tony Okpe who is the publisher of National Crimewatch Magazine decided to commend Audi’s exemplary and visionary leadership qualities so as to motivate other heads of security agencies under this new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to think out of the box in carrying out their assigned responsibilities

He also commended Audi for working effortlessly in the fight against oil theft and illegal oil bunkering, saying: “Before now, people lobby for promotion, but the CG eliminated this ill act and has maintained that only officers and men who qualify on merit are promoted or posted to areas where their services are needed for utmost performance of the corps on its task".

“He has eliminated nepotism, tribalism and favoritism in posting of personnel to every NSCDC formation.

The CG has ensured due process in the appointment and posting of state commandants.

These were not previously considered, but he has ensured that all parts of the nation are given equal attention.”

Under Audi's watch the NSCDC has become one of the most improved Paramilitary Security Agency and the most operational female squad in the history of Nigeria security architecture.

Audi has initiated more reforms in the NSCDC than most security agencies in the country at the moment. Just to mention Audi's few achievements in office, it is on record that the corps under his watch has successfully carried out destruction of over 350 illegal refineries in the Niger Delta region within the past six (6) months, has acquired massive arms for NSCDC operational use, procured Armored Personnel Career (APC) and vehicles for NSCDC to use in fighting vandalism of the nation’s critical national assets and infrastructure, oil theft  and other criminalities in the country, arrests and recovery of railway materials worth over 5 billion naira, construction of official and residential buildings within and outside the NSCDC Headquarters, arrest and prosecution of vandals in several courts of competent jurisdiction within the country, the conviction rates under Audi’s watch is the highest in the history of the NSCDC, creation of NSCDC Arms Squad Training School at Ugede Development Area,  Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa State, creation of the NSCDC Special Mines Marshal for stopping the menace of illegal mining in the country's mining sector in a bid to elevate the mining sector to rival the oil sector to further unburden the government’s reliance on oil, creation of NSCDC Female Squad to aid in tackling kidnapping and other restiveness in our schools nationwide, creation of Civil Defence Academy in Jos, Plateau State for the retraining, motivation of senior staff of the corps, pioneer initiator of the Safe the School initiative program for the protection of vulnerable schools across the country, purchase of mini firefighting tankers for disaster management in case of emergencies, increase in the welfare packages of NSCDC personnel, introduction of career progression for personnel of the NSCDC, robust staff welfare and motivational packages for personnel of NSCDC through massive promotion, conversion and upgrading as well as provision of staff welfare buses, procurement of operational and office equipment's, introduction of standard operating procedure (SOP) to further enshrine discipline in the corps amongst others.

''We decided to do this piece of report to put the records straight and highlight some of Audi's achievements for the world to see, especially in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure as well as appreciate all the good things he has done since his assumption of office over three years ago as the Commandant General of NSCDC''

As we unmasked the giant stride of the NSCDC Commandant General, worthy of note is creation of the Commandant General's Special Intelligence Squad (CG's SIS) which has made remarkable impact on the war against illegal bunkering, vandalism, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery among others.

Below are some of the successes recorded by one of the tactical units called Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) under the leadership of Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, Mni, OFR, the COMMANDANT GENERAL, NSCDC.
