The Police Service  Commission, PSC, has okayed promotion of some Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIG, as well as some Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCP to the rank of Commissioner of Police, CP.

According to a scoop exclusively obtained by TheCaveat.info those who made the list of elevation from CP to the rank of AIG include the current Imo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Isaac Akinmoyede, a one-time anti- riot police commander and International Police ( INTERPOL), Mr Garba Baba Umar, outgoing Ogun State Police Commissioner, Mr. Kenneth Embrimson, who retires on July 23rd, and a one - time Zone 2 spokesman, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju.

The officers are among no fewer than 20 senior officers of the force that would be elevated from Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP rank  to Commissioner of Police, CP.

Some of the DCPs expected to be moved to the next rank of CP, include a former DCP in charge of Administration (Lagos State Command), Mr Ayuba Elkana, the DCP in charge of operations in Lagos State Command, Mr Mohammed Ari Alli, Ogun state Command DCP in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Mr Wale Abbas, Mr Patrick Kehinde Longe and Abiodun Alabi.

A security source told TheCaveat.info that the Police Service Commission, PSC, had in its 8th plenary session pencilled some of these names for promotion to the next rank.

Embrison, Akinmoyede, Umar and Adeyanju, had served at various times as the CPs for Anambra, Plateau, Ondo and Zamfara states.

The DCPs who are expected to wear CP rank soon, are said to be officers who over the years have distinguished  themselves as Anti- riot Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, DPOS,  and Area Commanders in various parts of the country.
