Clergyman ‘Jehovah Sharp Sharp’ Docked For Violating Lagos Lockdown Directive

The General Overseer of Resurrection Praise Ministries for Africa, Bishop Samson Mustapha Benjamin alias “Jehovah Sharp Sharp” has been dragged before a Lagos Magistrate Court for violating lockdown order by the Lagos State Government.

The clergyman was docked alongside Jerry Abel and Johnson Benjamin.
The trio were arraigned before Magistrate Yewande Oshin at Court 1, Igbosere on Wednesday for allegedly leading about 100 persons to the Chinese Embassy in Victoria Island to protest the ill-treatment of Nigerians in China.
According to the Director of Public prosecution, Dr. Jide Martins, they were brought before the court on a three count charge bordering on failure to stay at home and conduct likely to cause breach of the peace, offences contrary to COVID-19 Regulation and punishable under Section 5 Quarantine Act, 2020, as well as Sections 122 and 168 Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
They however denied the charges brought against them in the suit number A/20q/2020.
Meanwhile, the magistrate slammed against the bishop a bail condition in the sum of N1million while the other defendants must provide N500,000 before they could be granted bail.
Addituonally, each defendant must provide two sureties, one of which must be a cleric and the surety must be a cleric leading a church of minimum of three branches.
The defendants were remanded in custody of the Police till they perfect their bail.
