137 Suspected Cultists Arrested in Lagos




Remember the popular saying to be warned is to be armed. Despite Thursday’s warning by the State Commissioner of Police,  CP Edgal Imohimi, against unlawful gathering in celebration of the cult sacred day known as (7-7) 7th day of the 7th month.
However, CP Edgal while briefing the press, on the crime fighting achievement of his command, paraded 137 suspected cult members, who were said to have been arrested at Ikorodu, while they were said to be observing their scared 7-7 celebration.
According to him, the suspects who were undergoing initiation rites in preparation to unleash mayhem on the larger society were arrested based on credible intelligence and information from the public, which he communicated to the officer in charge of Anti Cultism, Mr. Akaninyene Etuk a Chief Superintendent of Police CSP.
He said his men recovered from the suspects, one big banner written 07 with black Axe logo, a yellow keg containing 3 litres of liquid substance suspected to be ‘skuchies’, 6 small kegs containing ‘skuchies’, one big clay pot, two small calabashes and one locally made cut to size pistol.
The Police boss assured that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the case is concluded
