FCTA declares zero tolerance for fake and counterfeit drugs
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has declared zero
tolerance on fake and counterfeit drugs in the Territory.
It has therefore embarked on massive enlightenment and creating
awareness among residents to be aware and be warned on patronising fake
and counterfeit drugs to ensure the protection and propel a healthy life
among citizen of the FCT.
Acting secretary FCT Health and Human services secretariat Mrs. Alice
Odey- Achu said during the flag off of public enlightenment and
awareness campaign against fake and counterfeit drugs in Karu Motor
Park, organised by the FCT- Task Force on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs in
Abuja, called on residents to desist from patronising the vendors and
hawkers who sales fake and counterfeit drugs for healthy life.
Mrs. Odey - Achu who was represented by Pharm. Hauwa Kulu Ibrahim, the
Director, Pharmacy of Health and Human Services Secretariat said that
the choice of motor park for the enlightenment campaign was because it
has been observed that drugs are often hawk and sold at parks were
citizens often ignorantly fold victims of buying and administered under
self-medication without haven the knowledge of taking what fake and
counterfeit drugs is.
Speaking earlier, the chairperson of FCT Task Force on counterfeit
and fake drugs Pharm. Hauwa- Kulu Ibrahim in her welcome address calls
on the FCT transport worker to see the campaign as an opportunity of
seeking knowledge and be aware of what counterfeit and fake drugs is
like and make a good use of this knowledge to ensure, protect and propel
a healthy life among residents of FCT.-The Authority
