30,000 policemen promoted by IGP - CP
No fewer than 30,000 police officers and men have been promoted by the incumbent Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, in the last one year, the Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Garba Baba, has said.
Baba told newsmen on Monday after the opening of a one-day training seminar to mark the first year anniversary of IGP at Police Officers’ Mess in Bauchi, that the IGP’s achievements since he assumed office are very impressive.
He said: “About 30.000 policemen have benefited from promotion under IGP leadership as well as training and re-training of our officers and men both in the county and abroad.”
Garba also said over 100 police men benefited from the promotion in Bauchi State.
He said: “Base on the IGP experience as he came from United Nation, Nigeria police is well recognised internationally. His one year in office has been a wonderful success as numerous achievement has been recorded. Some of his achievements are respect for human right, zero tolerance to corruption.”
“The IGP also established a platform known as high tune 47 which is connected to Interpol. It is the central unit all over the world that has information about criminal location, we can use this technology to track criminals such as kidnappers, armed robbers, cattle rustlers etc,” he said.
The Commissioner said he has been able to stem the activities of political thugs known as “Sarasuka” since he assumed office as well as ensure security of lives and properties.
On the forthcoming Sallah celebration, the commissioner disclosed that the command has deployed 3,800 police to forestall breakdown of law and order during the celebration.
