Police bust 7-man kidnap gang in Imo
Luck has run out on seven kidnap suspects as operatives of the
anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police command have burst their
trail in the dreaded Avu forest in the Owerri West Local Government
Area of the state and rescued three kidnap victims unhurt.
Imo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Andrew Enwerem,
made the disclosure during a parade of the suspected kidnappers in
Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The suspects paraded included: Chukwuebuka Augustine, 22, from
Egbeada Owerri; Ikechukwu Nwachukwu, 34, of Ezinihitte Mbaise and
Chikamso Onyewuchi, 25, of Ejemekuru in the Oguta LGA of Imo State and
Romanus Ukabi, 28, from Isiagwu in Ebonyi State;
Others are Collins Nwaekwe, 24, of Obizi in Aboh Mbaise council;
Chibuike Maduba, 26 and Ikechukwu Okere, 20, both of Umukoronopehi in
Ngor Okpala council of Imo State.
The police spokesman gave the names of the three kidnap victims as
Francis Ugorji of Awaka and Chika Ahanonu of Works layout, Mbieri road,
both in Owerri North and Chibuike Nwaozo of Awo-Omamma in Oru East LGA.-The Authority
