How we recovered Yakubu's $9.8m, 74,000 Pounds - Witness
The first prosecution witness, Mr. Tasiu Abubakar, in the on-going
trial of former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Andrew YakuÂbu, has narrated to Justice
Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja, how the sum of
$9,772,800million was disÂcovered in his house in SaÂbon Tarsha area of
Kaduna metropolis.
Abubakar, who is a SuÂperintendent of Police, attached to the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was led in evidence by
prosecuÂtion counsel, Prince Ben Ikani.
Asked what happened on February 2, 2017, Abubakar said: “On that
fateful day, the Zonal Head of Kano received an intelÂligence
information that there was a house located at Sabon Tarsha area of
Kaduna State that there was a money kept in the house and the zonal
office has an office called IntelÂligence and Special OperaÂtion Section
(ISOS) which function is to carry out such operation.
“Based on that the zonal head of operation directed the unit to proceed
to KaÂduna and carry out surÂveillance. When the team arrived in the
house, the caretaker identified himÂself as Beatrice Yakubu. After the
introduction we presented a search warrant to him.
“The names of the peoÂple in my team were Sanusi Abdullahi, Aliyu AbdulkÂabu, Adamu Waziri, and Suleman Mohammed-The Authority
