DRTS warns against fake driver's licence in Bwari

The Area Commander in-charge of Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) Annex under Bwari Area Council, Mrs. Ekasa Oyeyemi has cautioned mo­torists to shun dealings with touts who take the advantage of some members of the pub­lic to issue them fake driver’s licence.

She disclosed this while counselling some motorists in the area, according to her, the motoring public should always visit VIO offices located in the six area council to obtain gen­uine licences.

The DRTS officer explained that the proper guidelines for obtaining genuine licence, include taking of the appli­cant bio-metrics, payment of recommended fee and sub­mission of vehicle particulars among others even as she warned motorists to stop ply­ing the road with rickety ve­hicles.

Oyeyemi called on motor­ists to always abide by the traf­fic rules and regulation and cooperate with their officers while on patrol noted at pres­ent the management of DRTS in the FCT is marking efforts to improve good relationship between its staff and motorists.

She advised motorists in Annex and its environs to visit VIO driver’s licence captur­ing centre in the area to renew their vehicle particulars when it expired warned drivers to avoid fighting their patrol officers that aggrieved indi­viduals should channel their complaints to the appropriate quarters.

The VIO officer noted that DTRS focus is on public en­lightenment campaign, edu­cating the motoring public to abide by traffic rules and regu­lation just as she stressed read­iness work with sister agencies in the area to ensure traffic violators are brought to book. - The Authority
