Demolition of N200m property: IGP's team arrests 30 suspects
A crack team of policemen from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP),
Mr. Idris Ibrahim, have arrested over 30 suspected thugs involved in
the demolition of over N200 million property allegedly owned by the
Group Chairman of Bontus Oil and Gas Company, Chief Bonaventure Uche
Okafor.
Those being arrested were said to have links with Chief Cletus Ibeto,
who has been invited by the IGP to explain his alleged role the
demolition of the property.
An official of Bontus Oil and Gas on kilometre 6, Onitsha/Owerri Road,
Obosi, Anambra State, the site of the disputed property previously owned
by Amazu Motors Nigeria Ltd, said the IGP’s team have arrested Ochanja
thugs who invaded and took possession of the property on the alleged
order of Chief Ibeto.
Ibeto did not respond to the Whatsapp, text messages and phone calls from The AUTHORITY on the matter.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Nkiru Nwode, also
did not pick calls made to his mobile on the issue but a source in her
office confirmed that action had been taken on the matter.
Mr. Philip Ogbonna of Bontus Oil and Gas had in press statement sent to
The AUTHORITY on Wednesday, claimed that: “The Chairman of Ibeto Group
of Companies, Chief Cletus Ibeto is in a trespass mess on a property
located at Obosi in Anambra State.
“The questions begging for answer now are whether Chief Cletus Ibeto is
a member of the Board of Directors of Amazu Motors? Whether he is a
member of Amazu family of Otolo Nnew? It is even confusing whether
Chief Cletus Ibeto is fighting Dangote indirectly through Bontus Oil or
whether he has a business interest in the property?” - The Authority
