Another man jumps into canal in Lagos
One Bayode Ahmed Lawal, at the weekend, jumped into a canal in the
Festac area of Lagos State. Lawal was an Industrial and Applied
Chemistry graduate of Unilorin, Kwara State.
According to an online media, Festaconline, the ordeal started from
around Mobil Filling Station area when Bayo started lying on the ground.
He was with his friends at this time. His friends beckoned on him to
stand up trying to find out what was wrong.
He stood up and then started walking fast, then started running towards
the bridge. His friends tried to stop him, chasing him, before they
could get hold of him, he had already jumped into the canal.
Before this, some, individuals said it seemed he had some
psychological issues. His body was yet to be retrieved as at the time of
filing this report.
Though, the reason for the man’s suicide mission was unclear, an
eyewitness told newsmen that, “Many local divers tried to save him.’’
The spokesperson for the police in Lagos, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole,
said the command got a report of the incident. He said, “I think it was a
case of a man who fell into a canal. We are still trying to get more
information on it.’’
He could not immediately confirm if the man was saved. - The Authority
