AIG seeks Kano, Katsina, Jigawa support for community policing
The new Assistant
Inspector-General (AIG) of Police, Zone 1, Mr. Kayode Aderanti, has called for
the support of people and the governments of Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States
for community policing.
Aderanti asserted that
community policing remains the most viable way to stamping out crime and
criminal activities in the zone.
The police chief who
recently resumed duty in the zone said that his doors were open to welcome
positive ideas and criticism from all stakeholders and urged the residents to
remain law-abiding and co-operate with the police in fishing out criminals in
the states
He told journalists in
his office that the protection of life and property in the zone remained his
primary assignment and cautioned the men and officers of the zone against
bribery and corruption as well as other acts capable of denting the image of
the Nigeria Police.
Aderanti, who resumed
duty as the 19th AIG of Police for Zone 1, said that the full support of the
public would enhance effective policing.
The Osun State-born
police boss replaced AIG Adamu Ibrahim, who has been redeployed to Zone 2
Lagos.
Aderanti is a graduate of Sociology from the University
of Ibadan.
He joined the Nigeria
Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1984. - The Authority
