Ex-ambassadorial nominee threatens to sue DSS, blames Akeredolu for his rejection
A former Ambassadorial nominee from Ondo State, Dr Jacob Igbekele
Daodu, has threatened to institute a legal action against the
Department of State Services, DSS, for smearing his reputation.
Igbekele, who was nominated as one of the 47 non-career ambassadorial
nominee of President Muhammadu Buhari for Ondo State, was recently
rejected by the Senate on the account of a purported damaging security
report from the DSS that he (Igbekele) is deceitful and indulged in
corrupt practices as Chair of Road Construction in Ondo State.
In a complaint letter against the DSS to the Attorney General of the
Federation dated 27 March and received on March 29, Igbekele through
his counsel, Mr Babs Akinwumi, described the DSS allegation as
ridiculous owing to the fact that the same security agency had cleared
and approved his appointment as Commissioner in Ondo State after his
tenure as Chair of the Ondo State Agency for Road Maintenance and
Construction.
Akinwumi stated that his client had never been invited by any security
agency in the country for questioning, neither had he been arraigned
before any court of competent jurisdiction. - The Authority
